– The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will again sponsor a winter maintenance program for a variety of positions to supplement the permanent workforce, according to Rep. Tarah Toohil (R-Luzerne).
The program runs from September through April, and includes positions for transportation equipment operators (TEO), diesel and construction equipment mechanics, automotive mechanics, tradesman helpers, clerks, clerk typists, stock clerks, welders, semi-skilled laborers and custodial workers.
TEO applicants must have a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), with the airbrake restriction lifted and two months of experience in the operation and maintenance of single-chassis trucks or have graduated from a CDL training school. Applicants will be tested on their driving skills during the interview process.
Individuals in these positions supplement the permanent workforce and have the potential to lead to permanent full-time employment.
