HAZLETON – Rep. Tarah Toohil (R-Luzerne) is teaming up with APPRISE, a state government agency which provides Medicare counseling, to assist older residents in the 116th Legislative District with open enrollment and questions regarding the program.
“Anyone wishing to make changes to their Medicare status during the current open enrollment period has until Saturday, Dec. 7, to do so,” Toohil said. “I am pleased we are able to offer my district office as a place where seniors can get questions answered on this important topic.”
During the open enrollment period, seniors may make changes to their current Medicare coverage, as well as join, switch or drop Medicare Advantage or prescription drug coverage plans.
A representative from APPRISE will meet with Medicare recipients in Toohil’s district office on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. by appointment only. Appointments can be scheduled by calling APPRISE at 570-822-1158.
APPRISE counselors are specially trained staff and volunteers who can provide objective, easy-to-understand information at no cost. They can help seniors understand Medicare eligibility, enrollment, financial assistance programs and coverage options, among other Medicare-related topics.
Toohil’s district office is located at 1 W. Broad St., Suite 100, in downtown Hazleton. Anyone with questions should call the office at 570-453-1344.
