HARRISBURG – Parents interested in applying for a Keystone Scholars grant can receive assistance through her district office in downtown Hazleton, Rep. Tarah Toohil (R-Luzerne) announced today.
Toohil’s staff will be available to handle grant applications on Thursday, Dec. 12, and Friday, Dec. 13, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The office is located at 1 W. Broad St., Suite 100.
The Keystone Scholars program provides $100 grants to every child born or adopted to a Pennsylvania family, on or after Dec. 31, 2018, to be used for future postsecondary education expenses.
“Parent who may not have access to a computer are invited to stop by our office and my staff will be happy to help them with the online application,” said Toohil. “This is a great program that encourages families to save for their child’s future postsecondary education starting the day they are born.”
The program does not use any taxpayer dollars. Keystone Scholars funds are invested as part of the PA 529 Guaranteed Savings Plan and funded by surplus investment earnings, in addition to philanthropic donations.
