HAZLETON – Rep. Tarah Toohil (R-Luzerne) today announced that she has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently experiencing mild symptoms.

Toohil began feeling sick on Wednesday, Feb. 3. She was not at the Capitol last week, but voted remotely to protect staff and other legislators.

“My husband started showing symptoms last week, and my entire family and I began to quarantine immediately. Other than originally feeling like I had a mild cold, the complete loss of smell stood out as the biggest indicator that I was COVID positive,” said Toohil. “Thankfully, due to the recent snowstorms, I was last physically present in the district office on Friday, Jan. 29, before I had symptoms.”

Toohil’s district office in Hazleton remains open to walk-in visitors. However, at-risk constituents are asked to call the office at 570-453-1344 so their requests can be processed over the phone.

Toohil is still quarantining today while working from home.
