HAZLETON – State Rep. Tarah Toohil (R-Luzerne) on Thursday joined other elected officials, community leaders and drug treatment experts at a forum that focused on the impact of the opioid epidemic among Hazleton’s Latino population. Opioid overdose deaths have declined in Pennsylvania for the first time in five years, yet the death rate among Latinos continues to rise. Toohil spoke about legislation that has been enacted in recent years to combat the drug crisis. The event was sponsored by Community Family Ministry and held at the Hazleton One Community Center.
