Free Produce Available to Area Seniors, Says Toohil

HAZLETON – Rep. Tarah Toohil (R-Luzerne) is encouraging eligible seniors in Luzerne and Wyoming counties to take part in a Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture program that provides vouchers worth $20 that can be used to purchase produce at participating farmers markets and roadside stands.

Toohil Demands Reconsideration of Costly Cut to Hazleton Schools

Tom Wolf and the Pennsylvania Department of Education to reconsider nearly $613,000 that will be slashed from the Hazleton Area School District’s current budget. The move comes as the result of a change to the state’s basic education funding formula that was implemented last year.

The MVC will be located at the Laurel Mall, 106 Laurel Mall Road in Hazleton from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather permitting. It will remain in place until all veterans in attendance are served.

The decision means the three prisons located in northeast Pennsylvania – SCI Retreat, SCI Frackville and SCI Waymart – will remain open.
