Toohil and House Committee to Explore Laws Increasing the Educational Stability for Foster Children
WHAT: Rep. Tarah Toohil (R-Luzerne) and other members of the House Children and Youth Committee will explore laws increasing the educational stability for children in foster care, with a focus on House Bill 569, sponsored by Toohil, and House Bill 973. Both are designed to ensure a more stable educational home for children placed in foster care.

WHO: Toohil; Rep. Kathy Watson (R-Bucks), committee chairman; committee members; and the sponsor of House Bill 973, Rosemary M. Brown (R-Monroe/Pike). Among those expected to offer testimony are Maura McInerney, senior staff attorney with the Education Law Center, Philadelphia; Joan L. Fitz-Patrick, deputy general counsel, PA School Boards Association, and director, PA School Board Solicitors Association; Debbie Staub, education adviser, Casey Family Programs; and Katherine Burdick, Equal Justice Works Fellow, sponsored by Greenberg Traurig, LLP, Juvenile Law Center, Philadelphia.
