State Grants Awarded to 17 Area Fire and Ambulance Companies, Says Toohil
5/16/2016
HARRISBURG – Seventeen fire and ambulance organizations in the 116th Legislative District were recently awarded nearly $245,000 in funding through the 2015-16 Pennsylvania Fire Company and Ambulance Service Grant Program, Rep. Tarah Toohil (R-Luzerne) announced today.

“Our first responders selflessly dedicate their time in service to their communities in Luzerne County,” said Toohil. “These state funds will help to ensure they have the equipment and training necessary to continue the important work of protecting our lives and property.”

The funding comes from an ongoing grant program created by the Legislature and administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner. All grants are generated from slot machine gaming proceeds, and not general fund tax revenue.

Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training or reduction of existing debt.
