State Grants Awarded for Local Road Improvement Projects, Says Toohil
10/12/2018
HARRISBURG – Rep. Tarah Toohil (R-Luzerne) announced that two area road improvement projects were awarded more than $3.53 million in state funding through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).

“I fully support these projects and am pleased they were approved for funding,” said Toohil. “Once they are completed, traffic flow will be improved and the safety of motorists and pedestrian will be enhanced.”

The projects receiving funding are as follows:

  • Valley Crest Real Estate, LP – $3,000,000 to reduce traffic, traffic movements and traffic phases at critical intersections along Route 315 near the Mohegan Convention Center with the installation of coordinated traffic signals at nine locations and construction of road improvements to facilitate access to the former Valley Crest facility.
  • Luzerne County – $533,312 to undertake necessary road improvements on North and South Beisels Road and add a bike lane.
A total of 42 projects in communities statewide were awarded $49 million in funding through PennDOT’s Multimodal Transportation Fund. The fund was established by Act 89 of 2013 to stabilize financial support for ports and rail freight, increase aviation investments, establish dedicated funding for bicycle and pedestrian improvements, and allow targeted funding for priority investments in any mode.
