Senate Bill 22 Survey
The Pennsylvania House of representatives is currently considering a bill sent to us by the Senate that would change the way legislative and congressional districts are drawn in Pennsylvania. Senate Bill 22 would establish an independent redistricting commission made up of 11 citizens who would have the responsibility of drawing the district boundaries.

The legislation would also divide the Commonwealth into judicial districts for the election of appellate court judges, which are currently elected via a statewide vote.
Because the bill would amend the state Constitution, it must pass in two consecutive sessions of the General Assembly and then be approved by voters in a ballot referendum.

You may remember that earlier this year the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the new congressional district maps drawn by the state Supreme Court, and its Democrat majority, which are now in effect.
